First Day Photos

Person:

I like this picture because I think it is really good quality. I also like how their motion is frozen because I used the sports mode to capture them in the middle of drumming. I do wish the background was blurred a little bit so that it is easy to tell that the people are the main focus. I believe this is a good photo.

Place:

I do not like this picture because I feel like it is boring, and there is no main focus. I wish there was more color in this picture so that it is more eye-catching. I think that next time I take a picture like this I should find something interesting, and make it the main focus of this picture. I believe this is a bad photo.

Thing:

I really like this picture because it is very colorful, and the background is blurred making it easier to focus on the main part of the picture (the butterfly on the flower). It took me a few tries to get a clear picture of the butterfly. I used sports mode to clearly capture the butterfly on the flower, this is my favorite picture I took. I believe this is a good photo.

The Camera

                                                                            Camera

1. Camera obscure effect is when a tiny hole is created in a dark room allowing light to come into the room, projecting the scene outside on the opposite wall (upside down).

2. Glass lenses and Optics

3. A glass lens, a dark box, and film.

4. They both have a lens, a dark box, and film.

5. Digital cameras use an electronic sensor called CCD.

                                                                       Camera Modes

6. In auto mode the camera controls the flash and exposure, in program mode you can control the flash and other camera settings.

7. Portrait mode is used to blur out the background, it does so by using the fastest available lens setting.

8. Sports mode is used to freeze motion in a picture, it does so by using the highest shutter speed possible.

9. In manual mode the photographer must set the shutter and aperture mode.

                                                                           Half-Press
10. You should do a half press on the trigger button because it will make sure your camera is ready and it will lock focus. It will also respond faster to the full press to take your picture.

                                                                       Controlling Flash
11. This symbol means the flash is disabled. You would use this when the natural light matches the mood of your photo.

12. This symbol means auto-flash. You would use this to make the flash go off automatically depending on how much light is in your picture.

                                                               Introduction to Exposure
13. If there is too much light the picture will be washed out.

14. If there isn't enough light the picture will be too dark.

                                                                    The Universal Stop
15. A "stop" is a relative change in the brightness of light.

16. 1 stop

17. 2 stops

                                                                   Shutters and Aperture
18. A longer shutter speed creates more light.

19. A shorter shutter speed creates less light.

20. The aperture controls light.

21. You can increase the amount of light by opening the aperture more.

Great B&W Photographers

                                                            Ansel Adams
                                           Winter Sunrise, the Sierra Nevada,
                                                 from Lone Pine, California
                                                                   1944

I chose this photograph because it has beautiful detail and value. It is a very clear picture and it almost makes me feel like I am seeing this landscape in real life.

                                                       W. Eugene Smith
                                             The Walk to Paradise Garden
                                                                1946
I chose this photograph because it reminds me of my childhood when my brother and I would go on adventures on our "magical trail",  which is what we called the trail we would                                walk through.

                                                        Gordon Parks
                                             Ingrid Bergman at Stromboli
                                                              1949
I chose this photograph because it looks very mysterious and makes you wonder what is going on in this photo. The photo is also a very clear, beautiful photo.
